Position Summary
The Viking Turbo 505 Machine Lead Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting the Viking Turbo 505 machine while working directly with a team of two additional employees. The Lead Operator coordinates daily tasks, oversees machine operation, maintains product quality, and ensures production goals are met safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead a three-person team, including the Lead Operator and two additional employees, to ensure efficient machine operation and consistent production output.
- Machine Operation: Operate and monitor the Viking Turbo 505 machine while coordinating responsibilities with the two team members.
- Task Coordination: Assign and coordinate daily tasks, ensuring all team members understand their responsibilities and follow established procedures.
- Machine Setup and Adjustments: Perform machine setups, changeovers, and approved adjustments to maintain efficient production.
- Quality Control: Inspect products throughout the production process to ensure quality standards are met and defects are identified promptly.
- Troubleshooting: Identify machine issues, jams, and production delays, perform basic troubleshooting, and notify maintenance when necessary.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure the team follows all safety procedures, uses required personal protective equipment, and follows applicable lockout/tagout procedures.
- Production Documentation: Complete production reports, quality records, and downtime documentation accurately.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and inspections to keep the machine operating properly.
- Training: Train and assist team members with machine operation, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
- Production Goals: Monitor production output, minimize waste and downtime, and ensure daily production targets are achieved.
- Communication: Report production issues, equipment problems, quality concerns, and shift updates to supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience operating industrial manufacturing machinery.
- Viking Turbo 505 machine experience preferred.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a team of two additional employees.
- Knowledge of machine setup, quality control, and basic troubleshooting.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety, teamwork, and production efficiency.
