Job Description

Job Description
Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Architectural Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of senior living and affordable housing projects. This position carries responsibility for managing project scope, schedules, budgets, consultant coordination, and architectural deliverables from design development through construction administration. The Project Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for clients while guiding internal project teams and maintaining accountability for quality, deadlines, and overall project performance.

The ideal candidate combines an architectural background with strong project leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Our client is open to experienced Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and accomplished Project Captains who are ready to assume broader project ownership. Success in this position requires the ability to manage competing priorities, build productive client relationships, and coordinate the technical and operational aspects of multiple architectural projects.

Why Join Our Client?

Our client is an established architectural design firm delivering projects across several building sectors, including residential and community-oriented developments. The organization offers a collaborative environment where project leaders work closely with design professionals, technical teams, and firm leadership to deliver projects that meet client objectives and serve the communities in which they are built.

This opportunity offers meaningful project ownership, exposure to diverse design challenges, and opportunities for professional growth. Employees benefit from flexible scheduling, a structured approach to career development, access to mentorship, and opportunities to expand their responsibilities over time. The firm supports a collaborative workplace where experienced professionals can contribute ideas, strengthen client relationships, and help guide successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead architectural projects through design development, construction documentation, permitting coordination, and construction administration, ensuring alignment with established project objectives.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, scope, staffing requirements, and resource allocation while identifying potential risks and maintaining accountability for deliverables.
  • Serve as a primary client contact, providing project updates, addressing concerns, coordinating decisions, and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Coordinate architects, designers, engineers, consultants, and other project stakeholders to maintain consistent communication and effective project execution.
  • Oversee the development, coordination, and quality review of architectural drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
  • Guide project teams by establishing priorities, assigning responsibilities, reviewing progress, and supporting professional development.
  • Participate in project meetings, construction-phase coordination, site visits, and the resolution of design or construction-related issues.
  • Monitor project performance, manage changes in scope or schedule, and support successful delivery across multiple concurrent assignments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related architectural discipline.
  • Professional experience in architectural design and project delivery, including progressively responsible involvement in managing building projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate architectural projects through multiple phases of design and construction.
  • Experience managing or contributing substantially to project schedules, budgets, consultant coordination, and architectural deliverables.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with owners, consultants, and internal project stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of architectural construction documents, building systems, and construction administration processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate project teams, and maintain accountability for quality and deadlines.
  • Ability to work primarily from the Columbus office or, for Cincinnati-based candidates, travel periodically to Columbus for team coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct architectural project experience involving senior living, affordable housing, multifamily residential, or similar building types.
  • Professional architectural registration or progress toward licensure.
  • Experience independently managing projects from initial planning through construction completion.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, particularly in reviewing and coordinating architectural documentation.
  • Previous experience mentoring designers, architects, or project production teams.
  • Experience managing several projects concurrently within a multidisciplinary architectural practice.
  • Master's degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
