ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A precast/prestressed concrete manufacturer and erector serving commercial, healthcare and infrastructure construction across Texas is adding a Safety Manager. This person leads the safety culture across field erection crews and plant operations, with a strong presence on active job sites. You will report to the Field Operations Manager and oversee the plant Safety Coordinator.

The client is open to two backgrounds:

1) A safety professional who is comfortable on active construction sites and willing to travel 3-4 days a week within Texas, or

2) A strong construction background (precast, steel erection, ironwork, concrete or similar) with real interest in moving into the safety side, also willing to travel 3-4 days a week within Texas.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Join pre-construction and planning meetings with general contractors to gather site-specific safety requirements

- Review logistics, crane access, delivery routes and erection sequencing from a safety perspective

- Handle project startup documentation and work within GC safety platforms

- Respond on site quickly after incidents or near misses and lead investigations (injuries, rigging, bracing, trailer, equipment, property damage), root cause analysis and corrective actions

- Track trends and recurring issues across crews and projects

- Run and coordinate training: equipment, CPR/First Aid, Competent Person, rigging and signaling, fall protection, and short recurring field sessions

- Build field mentorship so apprentices progress safely

- Maintain site-specific safety plans, JHAs/THAs, Stop Work Authority, heat illness prevention, trailer tie-off and equipment inspection procedures

- Attend GC and owner safety meetings and address noncompliance reports

- Hire, train and direct project-specific field Safety Coordinators as needed

- Build trust with ironworkers, foremen and superintendents and drive ownership of safety in the field

WHAT YOU NEED

- Field experience in precast erection or related construction operations (or a safety background with real job-site time)

- Crane and rigging knowledge, and an understanding of erection sequencing and field logistics

- OSHA 30 minimum

- Ability to earn OSHA 510, CPR instructor and other certifications as required

- Calm, professional incident response

- Comfortable communicating with ironworkers, foremen, superintendents, general contractors and company management

- Willing to travel up to 3-4 days per week to job sites around Texas

- Valid driver's license (company vehicle provided)

- Additional industry certifications are a plus

BENEFITS

- Health, dental and vision insurance

- Vacation and holidays

- 401(k)

- Profit sharing and bonus
