Want your designs to become the backbone of critical industrial and technology infrastructure? We’re looking for a detail-driven Mechanical Designer to join a focused engineering team in Houston and take ownership of design packages for complex, high-visibility projects, including data center infrastructure.
What you’ll do
- Build detailed 3D models and mechanical designs in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo from engineering concepts and specifications
- Produce fabrication and assembly drawings that apply GD&T and follow ASME standards
- Design the structural layout of frames, supports, and mechanical components for industrial applications
- Own drawing revision control and make sure every change is tracked, approved, and communicated
- Create and maintain BOMs, part lists, and the engineering documentation that manufacturing and installation depend on
- Work with engineers to solve design issues and optimize components and system performance
- Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before release
- Present models and drawings in design reviews and turn the feedback into updated packages
What you bring
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer or Mechanical Drafter in an industrial or engineering environment
- Strong 3D CAD skills in SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo
- Hands-on experience with GD&T and ASME drawing standards
- Experience managing drawing revisions and engineering documentation in a structured system
- Solid understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and structural design principles
- Ability to turn specifications, calculations, and layouts into precise, build-ready drawings
- Sharp attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Clear communication with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams
- Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field (a BS in Mechanical Engineering is a plus but not required with strong experience)
Bonus points
- Data center design experience (equipment layouts, structural supports, cooling systems)
- PDM/PLM experience (SolidWorks PDM, Vault, Windchill, or similar)
- Knowledge of machining, welding, and sheet metal fabrication and how each affects design
- Background in oil & gas, energy, or process equipment design
- Ability to run basic engineering checks or calculations
- CAD certification (CSWA/CSWP, Autodesk, PTC) or GD&T/ASME training
Why join
- High-impact work on technically demanding infrastructure projects
- Real ownership of design packages from concept to release
- A collaborative engineering team that moves fast
