POSITION OVERVIEW – Data Analyst 2 - Alteryx Developer
You'll keep the sales team's data accurate and flowing. You'll take in raw sales data, clean it up with Alteryx and Excel, and turn it into Tableau dashboards that Sales, Finance, and leadership use to make decisions. You'll also watch the automated data jobs, fix them when they break, keep the sales hierarchy and product tables current, and work with outside vendors and sales teams to make sure the numbers can be trusted. The focus is on the overall data process, not deep sales expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Architecture & Sales Data Model
• Oversee the performance, reliability, and scheduled refresh of the division's OLAP-based sales data model
• Validate model outputs through structured quality checks; diagnose and remediate discrepancies, missing records, or load failures
• Assess existing data structures for inefficiencies and propose enhancements that improve scalability and query performance
Data Pipeline Development & Automation
• Receive raw data and convert it into structured Excel formats; output clean, well-formatted datasets back to Excel for downstream use
• Design, build, deploy, and support automated ETL workflows in Alteryx
• Proactively monitor scheduled jobs, triage failures, and restore data flows with minimal business disruption
• Adapt pipeline logic in response to territory changes, account restructuring, and product portfolio updates
• Conduct periodic health reviews of pipelines, retiring outdated inputs and correcting logic inconsistencies
Business Intelligence & Reporting
• Lead the development of Tableau dashboards from initial stakeholder discovery through deployment and user training; the team is shifting dashboards toward AI-integrated formats
• Administer the reporting environment, ensuring data sources, extracts, and refresh schedules operate as intended
• Evaluate the reporting portfolio on a recurring basis to confirm metric definitions remain accurate and current
• Streamline the report catalog by sunsetting low-usage content and merging redundant views
Reference & Master Data Governance
• Maintain sales hierarchy and product reference tables, reflecting personnel movements, territory adjustments, product launches, and end-of-life items
• Administer product-to-material relationships within the ERP environment and resolve data quality exceptions
• Enforce consistent classification logic across all dependent systems and reports
Commercial Analytics
• Evaluate sales performance to identify trends, variances, and growth opportunities, translating results into concise recommendations
• Deliver timely, well-structured analysis in response to requests from Sales, Finance, and executive leadership
• Communicate findings to senior audiences through dashboards, written summaries, and presentations
Operational Excellence & Partnership
• Map existing workflows, pinpoint inefficiencies, and recommend practical, well-documented improvements
• Serve as a liaison among Sales Operations, Finance, IT, and external vendors (including point-of-sale data vendors) to resolve data issues and integrate new data sources
• Work with internal and external sales teams to validate data accuracy and sales data quality
• Assist with periodic reconciliation of sales data against financial records to ensure alignment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in sales operations, business intelligence, or data analytics, preferably in a B2B environment; a sales data background is not required.
• Advanced experience building and maintaining ETL workflows in Alteryx; this is mandatory and cannot be replaced by another tool
• Demonstrated Tableau expertise spanning dashboard design, data source management, and governance; Power BI is not used and will not be accepted as a substitute
• Advanced Excel skills: VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and Power Query
• Proficiency in SQL, including complex queries against large datasets; strong Alteryx users are assumed to have sufficient SQL knowledge
• Solid understanding of dimensional modeling and OLAP/cube concepts
• Working knowledge of ERP platforms
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Preferred
• Salesforce or other CRM familiarity
• Python or AI-enabled automation tools; the team actively uses Plaud and Gemini, so familiarity is a plus
