Job Description
About Jordan CRC / Phoenix Counseling Solutions

Jordan CRC and Phoenix Counseling Solutions provide behavioral health, substance use treatment, recovery housing, employment services, case management, and other supportive services for women working toward recovery and long-term stability.

Our approach is trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented. We work closely with community partners to help women overcome barriers related to treatment, employment, housing, and recovery.

Jordan CRC is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) and the Ohio Recovery Housing (ORH) network.About the role

We're looking for a hands-on nonprofit accountant to own the books across our programs and funding sources. You'll keep our records accurate, support grant reporting and reimbursements, and make sure we're audit-ready all year, not just at audit time.

This role is a strong fit if you've managed federal grant accounting, built or maintained cost allocation methods, and prepared schedules for a Single Audit. You'll work closely with program leaders and our external auditors, with real influence over how our financial controls and processes improve.

What you'll do

Nonprofit accounting

  • Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, accruals, and monthly reconciliations under U.S. GAAP.

  • Prepare statements of financial position and activities, cash-flow information, and monthly budget-to-actual reports.

  • Track net assets with and without donor restrictions, grant receivables, payables, and reimbursement balances.

Grant accounting across multiple programs

  • Keep grant, program, project, and funding-source coding distinct and accurate.

  • Monitor spending against approved budgets, award periods, and allowable cost categories.

  • Support grant drawdowns, reimbursement requests, financial reports, closeouts, and monitoring requests.

Cost allocation

  • Maintain written cost allocation policies and document supportable bases for shared costs (time and effort, square footage, usage).

  • Review payroll, fringe, occupancy, and administrative allocations so costs are reasonable, allocable, consistent, and never charged twice.

Single Audit readiness

  • Prepare and reconcile schedules supporting the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).

  • Keep audit-ready files year-round and coordinate auditor requests, findings, and corrective action follow-up.

Internal controls and leadership support

  • Strengthen approval, procurement, disbursement, and record-retention procedures, with appropriate segregation of duties.

  • Flag questionable or unsupported costs before reporting or payment.

  • Give leadership concise monthly financial summaries and variance explanations, and work with program directors to resolve coding and documentation issues.

Your first 90 days
  • Set up a reliable monthly reconciliation and grant reporting schedule.

  • Review the chart of accounts and coding for every active program and funding source.

  • Evaluate the cost allocation policy and identify missing support or inconsistent distributions.

  • Build an audit-readiness checklist, including SEFA support and outstanding reconciliations.

  • Give leadership prioritized recommendations for financial controls and process improvements.

What you bring
  • 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including 501(c)(3) nonprofit and grant accounting.

  • Direct responsibility for multiple program accounts, federal grant expenditures, and cost allocation.

  • Hands-on Single Audit preparation: reconciliations, supporting schedules, and auditor requests.

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, FASB ASC 958 nonprofit reporting, and 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance).

  • Strong Excel and accounting software skills; you produce accurate reconciliations and reports independently.

Nice to have
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of nonprofit or grant accounting.

  • Experience with behavioral health or substance use services funding.

  • CPA or a relevant certification (preferred, not required).

Schedule & pay

This is a part-time hybrid role of 10–20 hours per week, combining scheduled on-site collaboration with remote accounting work. Hours may flex around approved workload and reporting deadlines.

Pay is $35–45 per hour, depending on qualifications. Candidates with verified federal grant accounting and Single Audit experience will be considered at the upper end of the range.
