Job Summary: Apprentice Carpenter

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Apprentice Carpenter to join our team in the Massachusetts region. The Apprentice Carpenter will assist experienced carpenters with daily jobsite activities, follow instructions from carpenters, foremen, and site supervisors, and complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently. Candidates must be comfortable working with tools, willing to learn, and able to work safely in a construction environment. Strict adherence to all Colt-specific and jobsite safety procedures is required at all times.

Duties and responsibilities

• Follow all Colt-specific and jobsite safety procedures, at all times!
• Follow and execute instructions given by carpenters, foreman, and site overseer
• Perform assigned tasks correctly and in a timely manner
• Being able to cut, extend, and frame a typical wall
• Cut to given measurements: straight and square
• Squaring and Covering Walls
• Place the beam on the plane markings
• Raise and secure walls
• Covering roofs and terraces
• Assist in training of entry-level workers
• Understand and work within the Colt Tool Program
• Getting the job done on or under budget
• Train entry-level workers on safety protocols and direct them appropriately when protocols are not followed.
• Actively work to increase job knowledge, participating in training opportunities.

Qualifications

*Ability to perform supervised worker tasks/activities*

• Basic security and performance knowledge
• Appropriate knowledge of tools and carpentry skills
• Demonstrating initiative on the job site
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area
• Possess aptitude for learning and applying newly acquired skills

Working conditions

Full-time position, requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekend labor is often required, primarily whatever is necessary to complete the job. Environmental factors depend on the location of the job, but may include extremely cold conditions, or extremely hot and humid, in an effort to meet client expectations. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and sometimes at extreme heights.

Essential Function Requirements

Apprentice carpenters must be prepared to perform a considerable volume of lifting, and to carry, climb, kneel, and balance. Some ability to exert strength, dexterity, and substitutes is required. It must meet all job safety requirements.
