CNC Machinist
Location: Midlothian, VA
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour based on experience
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join a growing machine shop that supports manufacturing, industrial, and power generation customers. This is an opportunity for a true machinist who enjoys working on a wide variety of projects rather than a repetitive production environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience programming, setting up, troubleshooting, and operating CNC equipment while also possessing strong machining fundamentals. Candidates with both CNC and manual machining experience will be highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues
- Produce precision parts to quality standards
- Perform machine setups and make necessary program adjustments
- Utilize precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Assist with repair, modification, and fabrication projects
- Occasionally support field machining projects at customer locations
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a CNC Machinist in a machine shop environment
- Ability to perform machine setup and programming
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Understanding of machining processes, tooling, and precision measurement
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both CNC and manual machining
- Field machining or on-site customer support experience
- Experience with mills, lathes, and other machine shop equipment
- Ability to handle complex one-off and custom machining projects
Compensation
- $30.00 - $35.00 per hour for candidates with strong CNC machining experience
- $35.00 - $40.00 per hour for candidates with CNC programming, setup, manual machining, and field machining experience
