Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join a team in Des Moines, Iowa for a short-term Contract position. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can guide an established team while also contributing directly to day-to-day accounting activities. The position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt quickly to unfamiliar systems in a fully onsite environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead daily accounting operations and provide direction and support to an existing accounting team.
• Manage the month-end close process, ensuring entries are completed accurately and deadlines are met.
• Maintain the general ledger and review financial activity to support accurate reporting.
• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
• Create and post journal entries while assisting with detailed transactional accounting work when needed.
• Support financial statement audit activities by organizing documentation and responding to audit requests.
• Review accounting processes, identify areas for improvement, and help implement effective procedures as required.
• Contribute accounting leadership within a manufacturing or printing environment while maintaining strong cross-functional communication.• 5–8+ years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience.
• Strong expertise in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Demonstrated experience overseeing or mentoring accounting staff in a leadership capacity.
• Background as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant with team leadership responsibilities.
• Ability to perform both strategic oversight and detailed transactional accounting tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Proven ability to learn new accounting systems quickly.
• Availability to work 100% onsite in Des Moines, Iowa for the duration of this Contract assignment.
