Job Description
We are looking for a customer-focused Customer Service Representative to support library patrons through a long-term contract assignment. This fully onsite role is ideal for someone who brings patience, strong attention to detail, and a welcoming approach to every interaction. The position centers on helping visitors access services, answering questions clearly, and creating a positive experience across multiple service locations. Previous library experience is helpful, but success in this role will come from strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to public service.

Responsibilities:
• Assist patrons in person and by phone with questions, service requests, and general support needs in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Deliver a warm, detail-oriented front-line customer experience that helps visitors feel welcomed and supported throughout their visit.
• Respond to inbound inquiries accurately, provide clear information, and direct individuals to the appropriate resources or staff when needed.
• Support daily service desk activities, including basic record updates, order or request entry, and routine administrative tasks related to patron services.
• Work across more than one assigned location as needed to maintain consistent service coverage and operational support.
• Handle a variety of customer interactions with patience and sound judgment, including high-volume periods and occasional challenging situations.
• Maintain organized, accurate documentation while following established procedures, privacy expectations, and service standards.
• Provide coverage for scheduled evening hours and one weekend day as part of the rotating service schedule.

• At least 2 years of experience in customer service, call center support, or another public-facing service environment.

• High school diploma required; additional college coursework is preferred.

• Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly and professionally.

• Demonstrated ability to remain patient, approachable, and service-oriented when assisting a diverse customer base.

• Flexibility to work onsite in Oak Harbor and Freeland, Washington and support multiple assigned locations.

• Availability for occasional evening shifts and one weekend day based on scheduling needs.

• Employment is contingent upon all candidates being required to undergo a pre-employment screening prior to the start date.
