About First Star Safety
First Star Safety is a traffic control and pavement marking contractor serving Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. We're looking for dependable, safety-minded individuals to join our field operations team as Traffic Control Flaggers.
This is a hands-on, outdoor position supporting roadway construction projects and helping keep workers, motorists, and pedestrians safe.
Responsibilities
- Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic through active construction zones using approved flagging procedures.
- Communicate clearly with motorists, equipment operators, and other crew members.
- Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barricades.
- Follow applicable traffic control plans, safety procedures, and MUTCD requirements.
- Monitor changing roadway and jobsite conditions and promptly report safety concerns.
- Assist with general traffic control operations and other field duties as assigned.
- Maintain reliable attendance and report to assigned jobsites on time.
Qualifications
- Valid Flagger Certification required.
- Previous roadway construction or traffic control experience preferred.
- Knowledge of work zone safety practices and traffic control procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and remain alert in active traffic environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting and moving traffic control equipment.
