Insulation Installer

Alpers Insulation has been providing Northern Michigan contractors and homeowners with reliable insulation solutions for 50 years, and we are looking to build a team of reliable insulators. We specialize in spray foam, cellulose, fiberglass and rockwool insulation. Our scope ranges from remedying a cold floor in a 1800s home to new commercial builds.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

• Prep work sites by caulking and hanging plastic barriers
• Install and remove various types of insulation using the appropriate equipment
• Work on high or tight spaces (ex: a vaulted ceiling or crawl space)
• Be able to lift 30+ pounds
• Maintain safety measures when using ladders and scaffolding, lifiting 30+ pounds, navigating worksites, and working with insulation equipment and chemicals
• Adhere to job site guidelines that require specific clothing and/or footwear
• Adhere to SDS guidelines and use provided PPE

Experience

No experience is needed; we provide on the job training and equipment. Applicants with relevant experience or a chauffeur’s license are automatically eligible for a higher starting wage.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, the work day begins at 7am and usually ends between 3 and 5pm. There’s overtime available on Saturdays, with it being occasionally mandatory depending on work volume.

Our Day

The day begins at 7am with employees meeting at our Traverse City office where they are paired with 2-3 other employees and given instructions on where to go and what to do for the day. They then load a company vehicle with the needed materials and go to the assigned job site to complete the insulation work. It’s common to have 2-3 jobs to complete in a day. Depending on the day, most crews are done between 3 and 5pm.

Wages

Entry level employees start at $18.00 an hour, and those in possession of a current chauffeur's license start at $20.00 an hour. The hourly wage rate can increase up to $23.00 depending on an applicant's experience. Health and dental insurance are available after 90 days of employment.
