Traveling Project Manager – Industrial & Data Center Decommissioning
Quantum Technology is a family business with 30 years of experience dismantling and removing commercial and industrial installations across the continental US. We’re growing our decommissioning division and need a hands-on Project Manager to run jobs from kickoff to closeout. This is not a desk job. You’ll be on site leading the work, and you’ll also handle the planning, coordination, and documentation that keep the job on schedule and profitable.
What we do:
- Data center decommissioning: server racks, raised floor, ATS, UPS, generators, switchgear, HVAC/CRAC, fire suppression
- Laboratory decommissioning: lab casework, fume hoods, process plumbing
- Commercial/industrial electrical and mechanical removals: transformers, switchgear, chillers, and related MEP infrastructure
Before you apply, you must have these two:
- Willingness to travel extensively within the continental US
- Experience in industrial/commercial construction, electrical, or dismantling, including field leadership
What you’ll do:
- Own 2 or more active projects from handoff to closeout: schedule, budget, scope, and client communication
- Lead on site: walk the job with the foreman, run daily planning, and get hands-on when the job needs it
- Plan removal sequencing, rigging, and trucking; coordinate with riggers, haulers, subcontractors, and the GC
- Manage site requirements: certificates of insurance, site-specific safety plans/JHAs, badging, and lockout/tagout coordination
- Enforce our safety program and keep the site clean, safe, and compliant
- Track progress, labor, and costs against the estimate; flag scope changes early and document change orders
- Make sure recovered equipment is tagged, documented, and transferred correctly to our warehouse
- Keep project records current in our project management system (Zoho) and deliver closeout/turnover packages
- Work with our Field Operations Manager on crew needs and scheduling
Requirements:
- 5+ years in construction, electrical, or industrial dismantling, with at least 2 years as a PM, superintendent, or foreman running crews
- Working knowledge of electrical distribution and critical power equipment (switchgear, ATS, UPS, generators, transformers)
- Able to read drawings, one-lines, and site plans
- OSHA 30 (or willing to obtain quickly)
- Comfortable with email, spreadsheets, and project software, and able to keep accurate records
- Organized, direct communicator who can handle clients and lead a crew
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check
Nice to have: data center or lab decommissioning experience, rigging knowledge, estimating experience, Zoho experience.
What we offer:
- Pay: $[85,000–95,000] per year, based on experience
- Per diem and travel covered on out-of-town jobs
- 401(k) and health coverage
- A growing division with room to advance as we scale
If you meet all requirements above, apply. We look forward to hearing from you.
