What You'll Do
As an Automotive Paint Prepper, you'll play an important role in preparing vehicles and body panels for a high-quality paint finish. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing new and repaired vehicle panels and body surfaces for painting according to quality standards and production timelines.
- Sanding, removing rust, and cleaning surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Filling dents and imperfections with body filler to create smooth, paint-ready surfaces.
- Masking and protecting vehicle parts and areas that should not be painted.
- Mixing paint and materials according to specifications when needed.
- Operating body shop tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Inspecting tools and equipment to ensure they are properly maintained.
- Following all safety procedures and regulations related to paint products, chemicals, hazardous materials, and personal protective equipment.
- Working closely with painters, body technicians, estimators, and other team members to keep repairs moving efficiently.
- Assisting with vehicle detailing before customer pickup when needed.
- Completing required training and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of automotive paint preparation experience.
- Basic computer and telephone skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, team-oriented collision center.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and respectful demeanor.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper handling of materials.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, stretching, and repetitive movements.
- Clean driving record.
