Controller

Dawoud Kazimee with Robert Half is searching for a Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing organization in Tigard, Oregon. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing payroll and payables, and preparing timely reporting that supports business decisions and lending requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on accounting experience, sound judgment, and the flexibility to contribute across administrative and project-based needs.

Responsibilities:

• Manage end-to-end accounting activities, including monthly close processes and preparation of quarterly financial results.

• Prepare customer invoices, process vendor payments, and maintain accurate accounts payable and receivable records.

• Administer monthly payroll for a small employee population, including support for certified payroll on applicable projects.

• Coordinate employee benefits administration and assist with related records and communications.

• Produce compiled quarterly financial statements for submission to the bank in support of credit line reporting.

• Monitor financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal standards and reporting timelines.

• Provide general office and project-based support as business needs arise.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience handling full-cycle accounting for a similarly sized organization.
• Demonstrated background in payroll administration, monthly close, and recurring financial statement preparation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential financial and employee information appropriately.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally and adapting to a role that includes a variety of accounting and administrative responsibilities.
• Experience with Sage 100 or comparable accounting software is an asset.
• Exposure to prevailing wage or certified payroll is helpful, but training can be provided.
