Health and Wellness Instructor

JARC is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative Vocational Instructor with an emphasis on sports to work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our day program. In this role, you'll help participants build confidence, develop healthy habits, stay physically active, and engage in meaningful community experiences.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in recreation, fitness, coaching, exercise science, health and wellness, adaptive physical education, senior services, human services, or direct support.
What You'll Do
- Lead engaging classroom activities focused on life skills, fitness and well-being.
- Support participants in developing workplace habits and professional behaviors.
- Encourage independence, self-confidence, and community engagement.
- Monitor progress and maintain required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with staff, participants, and families.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or relevant experience preferred.
- Candidates with backgrounds in exercise science, kinesiology, recreation, coaching, personal training, health education, psychology, human services, adaptive physical education, direct support, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage individuals of varying abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid Florida Driver's License and ability to drive a passenger van.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening and drug testing.
