Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented finance / sales & use tax specialist to join a long-term contract assignment supporting indirect tax and financial compliance activities in Dallas, TX. In this role, you will work with transactional and accounting data from multiple sources to help ensure accurate tax reporting, maintain compliance records, and support recurring finance processes. This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and using advanced Excel skills to turn complex data into clear, reliable results.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day support for indirect tax compliance, including activities related to sales and use tax filings and associated reporting obligations.

• Coordinate business license applications, renewals, and related documentation to help maintain ongoing regulatory compliance.

• Pull information from ERP platforms and other data sources, then review and reconcile records to confirm completeness and accuracy.

• Use advanced Excel tools such as PivotTables and data transformation functions to organize, validate, and analyze inconsistent data sets.

• Prepare account reconciliations and create journal entry support when needed for finance and tax-related activities.

• Investigate reporting variances, transactional issues, and tax exceptions, then drive timely resolution of identified discrepancies.

• Maintain clear records of procedures, compliance support, and internal control documentation for audit readiness.

• Assist with audit requests, tax inquiries, and ad hoc financial analysis by gathering support and explaining data outcomes.

• Complete recurring tax and compliance tasks independently while meeting established timelines and quality expectations.

• Recommend practical improvements that strengthen data quality, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in finance, accounting, indirect tax, or a similar analytical function.
• Hands-on exposure to sales and use tax processes is strongly preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, data analysis, and reconciliation techniques.
• Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability with a data-driven approach to solving problems.
• Comfortable communicating findings and issues to both finance partners and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver accurate results in a deadline-driven environment.
