Post-Operative Massage Therapist Cosmetic Surgery Recovery

Pay: $25–$35 per hour

About the Position

BODY BACK IN ACTION is seeking an experienced, compassionate Post-Operative Massage Therapist to support clients during their cosmetic-surgery recovery journey.

Our post-operative services focus on client comfort, appropriate therapeutic bodywork, professional communication, and collaboration with the client's surgical care team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform appropriate post-operative massage within New Jersey licensure, training, and scope.
  • Provide gentle manual lymphatic drainage techniques when appropriately trained and indicated.
  • Complete client intake and review relevant surgeon instructions.
  • Provide appropriate bodywork for clients recovering from cosmetic procedures.
  • Document client visits and treatment response.
  • Maintain clean and sanitized treatment rooms.
  • Educate clients on appropriate non-medical aftercare.
  • Monitor client comfort throughout sessions.
  • Recognize concerns requiring referral to the surgeon or medical team.
  • Coordinate with BBAI's post-operative nursing team as appropriate.
  • Support client retention and appointment scheduling.
  • Follow professional boundaries and confidentiality requirements.

Preferred Recovery Experience

Experience supporting clients following:

  • Liposuction and Lipo 360.
  • Abdominoplasty/tummy tuck.
  • BBL procedures.
  • Breast procedures.
  • Cosmetic body-contouring surgery.

Massage must be appropriate for the client's recovery stage and surgeon instructions. This role does not include independent wound care, drain removal, medical diagnosis, or treatment of surgical complications.

Qualifications

  • Active New Jersey massage and bodywork therapy license.
  • Appropriate post-operative massage education or training.
  • Manual lymphatic drainage training strongly preferred.
  • Experience with cosmetic-surgery recovery clients preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and infection prevention.
  • Excellent hands-on skills and client communication.
  • Compassionate, professional, and dependable.
  • Ability to identify concerns and refer clients for medical assessment.

Compensation & Growth

$25–$35 per hour based on experience and credentials.

Part-time initially with potential for full-time employment as the post-operative department grows.
