Job Description

Wegner CPAs is proud to partner with our client in Middleton on their search for an Accountant to join their team!

Accountant | $70K–$80K + Bonus Opportunity

Middleton, WI | Full-Time | On-Site

Looking for an accounting role where you can take ownership, make an impact, and be more than just a number? This could be the opportunity you've been waiting for!

We're partnering with an established, privately held construction company in the Middleton area to find a detail-oriented Accountant who enjoys variety, values collaboration, and wants to play an important role in the company's financial operations.

With decades of success in the construction industry, this organization offers the opportunity to join a close-knit team where your work matters, your contributions are visible, and you can take ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

What's in It for You?

  • $70,000–$80,000 annual salary, depending on experience
  • Bonus opportunity based on experience and performance
  • Consistent Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • A collaborative, small-company environment where you can make a real difference
  • Variety and ownership across multiple areas of accounting
  • The opportunity to support an established, financially driven business with a strong industry reputation

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on accounting role where you'll help keep the company's financial operations running smoothly. You'll work across several key areas, including:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage vendor invoices, customer billing, payment tracking, and outstanding balances.
  • General Ledger & Reconciliations: Maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and ensure transactions are properly recorded.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist with preparing financial statements, month-end activities, and other reporting needs.
  • Job Cost Accounting: Track project-related expenses and support accurate cost allocation and financial monitoring.
  • Payroll Tax Reporting: Prepare payroll tax reports and support timely filings and compliance.
  • Accounting Administration: Maintain organized documentation, identify discrepancies, and help improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and can confidently manage day-to-day accounting responsibilities.

You bring:

  • 2–5 years of accounting experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliations, and payroll tax reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team.

Bonus points if you have construction accounting or job costing experience! Familiarity with Foundation Software or similar construction accounting systems would be especially valuable.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

If you're looking to move beyond a narrowly defined accounting position, this role offers the chance to be involved in the bigger picture. You'll work closely with a small team, gain exposure to multiple areas of the business, and see firsthand how your work supports the company's success.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who appreciates a steady weekday schedule, enjoys wearing multiple hats, and wants to build a meaningful role within an established organization.

Your next opportunity might be closer than you think!
