Job Description

This role performs a wide range of construction labor tasks focused on precast concrete production and installation. You will work with concrete, carpentry, general labor, and heavy lifting while supporting machine operators and production activities. The position requires safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to help complete construction projects and meet production goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction labor tasks related to precast concrete production and installation.
• Handle concrete duties, including preparing, pouring, and finishing concrete as directed.
• Carry out general labor activities such as material handling, site cleanup, and basic maintenance.
• Perform heavy lifting of materials, tools, and equipment as part of daily work assignments, including team lifting when needed.
• Assist machine operators throughout the production process to ensure efficient and safe operation.
• Operate or help operate machinery and equipment used in concrete and construction work under appropriate guidance and training.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for carpentry, concrete, and general construction tasks.
• Read and use tape measures accurately to support precise measurements and cutting.
• Support carpentry-related tasks, including building, assembling, or installing forms and structures.
• Assist with landscaping-related duties as needed, including preparation and cleanup around work areas.
• Perform cleaning, sanding, and paint preparation tasks as required in the production environment.
• Help with forklift-related activities when appropriately trained and authorized.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing regular cleaning and general labor duties.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, machinery, and materials.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and meet production and quality goals.

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction labor, including work on construction sites.
• Hands-on experience with concrete work such as preparing, pouring, and finishing concrete.
• Experience in general labor tasks including material handling, site cleanup, and basic maintenance.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and team lifting of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Basic carpentry skills, including building, assembling, or installing forms and structures.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools in a construction or production environment.
• Proficiency in reading and using tape measures for accurate measurements and cutting.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around machinery and production equipment.
• Ability to assist machine operators and follow directions in a fast-paced production setting.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance and work performance.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and guidelines at all times.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping tasks such as site preparation and cleanup.
• Familiarity with sanding and paint preparation in an industrial or construction setting.
• Exposure to forklift operation or willingness to train on forklift equipment when required.
• Prior experience in a heavy industrial or precast concrete environment.
• Interest in long-term growth within the construction and production industry, including potential paths to supervisory roles or heavy equipment operation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a heavy industrial, construction-focused environment that includes both indoor and outdoor work areas. The facilities are non-climate controlled, so you will work in varying temperatures and weather conditions while performing duties inside and outside. You will regularly work around concrete production equipment, machinery, hand tools, and power tools in an active construction and manufacturing setting, with consistent hours and work weeks.

This is a Contract position based out of Ashland, VA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
