PERSONALITY TRAITS / IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal Sales Assistant is someone who brings energy, accountability, professionalism, and a positive attitude to the workplace. This position requires more than simply completing assigned tasks. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates effectively, and genuinely wants to contribute to the success of the team.

The successful candidate should be:

  • Proactive – Anticipates needs, follows up without being asked, and looks for ways to keep things moving.
  • Accountable – Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows tasks through to completion rather than waiting for someone else to address an issue.
  • Resourceful – Can think through problems, identify potential solutions, and know when to ask for assistance.
  • Detail-Oriented – Understands that accuracy matters, particularly when handling customer information, orders, pricing, proposals, invoices, and pharmaceutical-related documentation.
  • Organized – Able to manage multiple customers, orders, quotes, emails, and priorities without losing track of important details.
  • Adaptable – Comfortable with changing priorities and able to adjust quickly when an urgent customer, vendor, or operational issue arises.
  • Calm Under Pressure – Maintains professionalism and a level head when dealing with difficult customers, tight deadlines, backorders, shipping issues, or competing priorities.
  • Customer-Focused – Understands that excellent customer service means being responsive, dependable, professional, and solution-oriented.
  • A Strong Communicator – Communicates clearly and respectfully with customers, vendors, coworkers, and management. Knows when something needs to be escalated.
  • A Team Player – Willing to assist others, share information, and step outside of their normal responsibilities when needed to help the team succeed.
  • Self-Motivated – Does not require constant direction and can identify what needs to be done and take appropriate action.
  • Positive and Professional – Brings a good attitude to the workplace and can maintain professionalism even when situations become challenging.
  • Curious and Willing to Learn – Interested in understanding how different areas of the company operate and willing to develop cross-functional knowledge.
  • Solutions-Oriented – Focuses on finding answers rather than simply identifying problems. When bringing an issue to management, makes an effort to understand the situation and identify possible solutions.
  • Dependable – Can be trusted to complete assignments, meet deadlines, follow through on commitments, and communicate when additional assistance is needed.
  • Discreet and Trustworthy – Understands the importance of confidentiality and professionalism when handling customer, vendor, financial, and business information.
  • Comfortable Taking Initiative – Willing to make decisions within the scope of the position and take action rather than waiting for instructions on every step.
  • Professional and Courteous Demonstrates a respectful, polished, and approachable demeanor when interacting with colleagues, customers, and business partners. Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and responds to questions and concerns with patience, tact, and professionalism while maintaining a positive and customer-focused attitude.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

A successful Sales Assistant will become someone the sales team, customers, vendors, and management can count on. This individual should be the type of person who sees something that needs to be done and takes action, follows up when an answer is pending, communicates when there is a problem, and does not allow tasks to fall through the cracks.

We are looking for someone who can say:

“If I am responsible for it, I own it, I follow it, and I make sure it gets done.”

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being busy, solving problems, helping people, staying organized, and being an integral part of a growing team.
