Build, launch, and stabilize new CNC production
Help transform engineered designs into stable, efficient CNC processes. You’ll program, prove out, and document new product introductions while partnering with Production, Quality, and ES&H to deliver safe, repeatable results.
What you’ll do
- Author CNC programs for new parts and for engineering revisions; refine for quality and throughput.
- Set up machines, execute first-article runs, and validate tooling, fixtures, and instructions before releasing to production.
- Coordinate test/development pieces, including R&D material needs and funding considerations.
- Embed with Production during launches and low-volume periods to introduce products and production aids.
- Diagnose and resolve issues spanning programming, tooling, setups, and machining.
- Train operators on safe operation, program loading, setup sequences, and core machining principles.
- Support cross-functional process improvements with Production, Quality, Engineering, and ES&H.
- Conduct time studies, capture production data, observe workflows, and establish standard cycle times.
- Drive reductions in cycle time; improve quality, tooling life, productivity, and machine utilization.
- Implement and verify process changes and novel manufacturing approaches.
- Keep programming, setup sheets, routers, and process documentation accurate and current.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders to support launches and daily operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Preferred: technical training or associate degree in machining, manufacturing technology, engineering technology, or related. Equivalent experience in machining/CNC programming/setup/manufacturing may substitute.
- Hands-on CNC programming and setup experience with first-piece inspection.
- Knowledge of machining theory, cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and machine operation.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting ability.
- Skilled at training and conveying technical concepts to operators.
- Comfortable with engineering/manufacturing software; proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience launching new products and proving out CNC programs on mills/lathes/automation.
- CAD/CAM experience; FeatureCam familiarity is advantageous.
- Time study experience, including establishing standard work and standard cycle times.
- Lean/continuous improvement exposure.
- Knowledge of machine designs/applications and experience creating/updating routers.
Where you’ll excel
- Equipment troubleshooting
- CNC tooling optimization
- CNC programming
- CNC machine setup and changeovers
- Setting up production runs for repeatability
- Using CAM software (e.g., FeatureCam)
