About the Role & Location We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (1099 Independent Contractor) with American Sign Language (ASL) knowledge to provide individualized, one-on-one care in Shelby, NC (Zip Code: 28152). In this role, you will work directly with a member in their home and community, providing Community Living & Supports (CLS) care to promote independence, daily skill development, and meaningful community integration.

Our ideal contractor brings a warm, patient, and person-centered approach, utilizing ASL skills to facilitate effective communication, foster a supportive environment, and assist the member in achieving their personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
• Communication & Engagement: Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate effectively, build strong rapport, and ensure client needs and preferences are understood.
• Daily Living & Skill Building: Provide hands-on assistance and guidance with daily living activities, routine household tasks, and personal care as needed.
• Community Integration: Support and accompany the member on community outings, appointments, and recreational activities to foster social connections and independence.
• Goal Progression & Safety: Partner with care coordinators and family members to implement care plans, track progress toward functional goals, and adhere to all safety protocols.

Schedule & Pay Rate

This 1099 Independent Contractor position pays:

• Community Living & Supports (CLS): $18.00 per hour

Work Schedule:

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications

• Contractor Status: Must be willing to contract as a 1099 Independent Contractor.

• Language Skill: Proficiency or working knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is required.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).

• Experience: Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.

• Transportation: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance (required).

• Screening: Ability to pass standard background check.
