This position works closely with project executives, superintendents, MEP subcontractors, design teams, vendors, commissioning teams, and the owner to ensure MEP systems are installed safely, coordinated effectively, completed on schedule, and delivered in accordance with project requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience managing complex mission-critical or data center construction and understands the coordination required between electrical distribution, mechanical cooling, controls, plumbing, fire protection, and supporting infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage MEP construction activities from preconstruction and design coordination through commissioning and final turnover.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and other critical building systems.
  • Manage MEP subcontractors and vendors, including scope development, procurement, mobilization, performance, schedule, and change management.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, equipment schedules, and shop drawings for constructability and completeness.
  • Lead MEP coordination meetings with subcontractors, engineers, field supervision, BIM/VDC teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Work closely with BIM/VDC teams to identify clashes, resolve coordination issues, and ensure coordinated models accurately support field installation.
  • Monitor MEP installation progress against the project schedule and identify risks that could impact critical milestones.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement and track long-lead items such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transformers, chillers, CRAH/CRAC equipment, pumps, controls, and other mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of project budgets, forecasts, cost reports, change orders, and subcontractor commitments.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, design changes, potential change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate MEP activities with architectural, structural, civil, and site construction teams to prevent field conflicts and maintain installation sequencing.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and provide recommendations related to installation sequencing, access, maintainability, and commissioning.
  • Work with field leadership to ensure installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and applicable codes.
  • Support QA/QC inspections, punch-list management, equipment startup, functional testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with the commissioning team to support L1-L5 commissioning activities, testing, startup, integrated systems testing, and final turnover.
  • Maintain strong communication with the owner/client, general contractor, design consultants, trade partners, and equipment vendors.
  • Identify project risks early and develop corrective actions to protect schedule, cost, safety, and quality.
  • Prepare and communicate project status updates covering schedule, cost, procurement, quality, commissioning, and outstanding issues.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and ensure MEP work is performed in accordance with project and site safety requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent construction experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of construction/project management experience with a strong focus on MEP systems.
  • Previous data center, mission-critical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, or other technically complex construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical construction systems and their interaction within mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience managing MEP subcontractors, procurement, cost, schedule, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, electrical one-lines, mechanical plans, and equipment documentation.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and turnover processes for mission-critical facilities. Your internal data-center QA/QC material specifically references structured L1-L5 commissioning and turnover documentation.
  • Strong understanding of BIM/VDC coordination and MEP clash-resolution processes.
  • Proficiency with construction technology such as Procore, Autodesk Build/BIM 360, and Bluebeam preferred; those platforms also appear in your existing mission-critical role materials.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
