Electrical Engineer Project / Contract Assignment

Location: Katy TX

Engagement: As-needed, project-based contract work

Schedule: Flexible, with occasional onsite visits and client walkthroughs

PE Licnse: Not required

An established engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support industrial projects on a contract basis. This opportunity is suited to an independent consultant, an engineer operating through their own company, or an experienced professional with availability to take on additional project work.

Assignments typically range from 80 hours to several hundred hours per project, with opportunities for recurring work as projects arise. Hours and project volume will vary. Candidates must be available for occasional site visits and client walkthroughs in Pasadena, TX.

Responsibilities

Perform electrical engineering and design work for heavy commercial and industrial facilities.

Support projects involving electrical systems and equipment operating at voltages up to 5 kV.

Conduct field walkdowns to verify existing conditions, gather technical information, and identify project requirements.

Prepare and update electrical drawings and as-built documentation based on field findings.

Participate in client walkthroughs and technical discussions, clearly communicating findings and recommended next steps.

Coordinate with project managers and other engineering disciplines to deliver accurate work within agreed schedules.

Independently manage assigned deliverables and communicate progress, questions, and potential issues.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of electrical engineering experience, including heavy commercial and/or industrial projects.Refinery, chemical plants, etc

Demonstrated proficiency with electrical systems operating at voltages up to 5 kV.

Experience conducting field walkdowns and preparing as-built documentation.

Ability to work independently and translate field information into practical engineering deliverables.

Strong communication skills and confidence interacting directly with clients.

Availability to support agreed project schedules and attend occasional weekday site visits in Pasadena, TX.

Preferred Experience

Petrochemical plant, refinery, or related industrial facility experience.

Electrical systems operating at 13 kV and above.

SKM or ETAP software.

SCADA systems.

Offshore facilities or projects.

Automation and instrumentation experience, including PLC cabinet design, PLC programming, or DCS programming, would be an additional advantage.

This is a project/contract assignment, with work assigned as needed rather than a full-time position. Candidates should be able to establish realistic availability, meet agreed deadlines, and provide reliable support throughout each assignment.
