Job Description

Job Summary

Design Consolidated Contractors Inc. is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to oversee day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate, up-to-date general ledgers. Operating under the guidance of CEO Luis Cibrian, this role functions independently to manage routine accounts payable, receivable, and payroll while tightly maintaining compliance with internal spending thresholds and liquid cash reserve requirements. The ideal candidate ensures our financial foundation remains robust, provides clear monthly reporting to leadership, and keeps clean, audit-ready data for outside accountants.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily Ledger Management: Record all day-to-day financial transactions, post journal entries, and maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts using financial software.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process bills, map vendor invoices, schedule outgoing payments, enforce sales tax collection, and actively manage timely collections of accounts receivable.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple corporate accounts to resolve discrepancies and track accurate cash flow.
  • Payroll Processing: Administer regular payroll cycles, including wage calculations, tax deductions, benefits tracking, and strict adherence to state and federal payroll regulations.
  • Financial Threshold Monitoring: Monitor key financial constraints to ensure zero violations of company spending limits and maintain a baseline cash runway metric equal to two months of average operating expenses (approx. $83,000 in liquid cash reserves).
  • Reporting & Close Cycles: Drive the month-end and year-end closing processes. Generate and distribute accurate financial reports (income statements, balance sheets, and P totals) to upper management.
  • Accountant Collaboration: Maintain highly organized digital and physical financial records to provide comprehensive support for tax preparation, forecasting, and annual audits.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of proven bookkeeping or financial data management experience, preferably within the contracting, construction, or corporate sector.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced, hands-on knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (formulas, custom spreadsheets, and pivot tables). Experience with automated ERP systems is a plus.
  • Accounting Knowledge: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard bookkeeping policies and compliance requirements.
  • Core Competencies: High degree of accuracy, keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and exceptional organization.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for professional interactions with internal leadership, outside vendors, and clients.
  • Education: High school diploma of equivalent required; an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly preferred.

Position Details & Location

  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-hour shift
  • Location: Office-based position in the Kansas City metropolitan area
  • Salary Range: Competitive/Based on experience
