Position Overview

Legacy Career Solutions is conducting a high-priority search for an experienced Construction Project Engineer / Project Coordinator on behalf of an established Southern California general contractor specializing in commercial and healthcare construction.

This position will support approximately four active construction projects in Bakersfield and an upcoming project in Selma, California.

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive construction professional who can work directly with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to keep multiple projects organized, properly documented, and moving forward.

This is a hands-on construction coordination position, not an entry-level administrative role. Previous commercial construction experience is required.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working from construction job sites and project trailers, coordinating field activities, maintaining schedules, and following up on outstanding project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day activities across multiple active commercial construction projects.
• Prepare, maintain, and follow up on three-week look-ahead construction schedules.
• Work closely with superintendents and subcontractors to monitor project progress and upcoming activities.
• Track material deliveries, subcontractor commitments, scheduling conflicts, and outstanding action items.
• Maintain RFIs, submittals, construction drawings, change documentation, daily reports, and meeting minutes.
• Monitor project deadlines and follow up on outstanding approvals, documentation, and project requirements.
• Coordinate communication between project managers, superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Assist with construction inspections, project closeout documentation, and progress reporting.
• Maintain accurate project records using Procore or comparable construction management software.
• Identify potential project delays or coordination issues and communicate them promptly to management.
• Support projects in Bakersfield and coordinate with an upcoming Selma project as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Project Engineer, Project Coordinator, or similar position in commercial construction.
• Experience working for a general contractor or in a comparable construction project coordination environment.
• Working knowledge of construction schedules, RFIs, submittals, drawings, and change documentation.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Ability to prepare and maintain three-week look-ahead schedules.
• Strong understanding of construction project workflows and documentation requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction project management software.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Must be able to work onsite at Bakersfield construction locations and occasionally travel to Selma.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with healthcare construction, hospital renovations, or commercial tenant improvements.
• Procore experience.
• Experience supporting multiple simultaneous construction projects.
• Familiarity with construction inspections, subcontractor scheduling, and project closeout procedures.

Compensation and Opportunity

Annual Salary: $72,000–$90,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
