Job Summary:
TheShopMechanicwillassistwith preventative maintenance andrepairsof diesel equipment in theshopto make electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repairs on equipment such as excavators, loaders, trenchers, forklifts, and more.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs as well as preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and other components.
- Determinewhat parts and tools are necessary to make repairs.
- Completeall requiredpaperwork. Resolve all maintenance requests for machine inspections and work orders.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Schedule repairs and maintenance on equipment enteringyard.
- Keepshopand yard organized.
- Keep chemicals and oils labeled andproperly stored.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be at least 21 years of age, as required by the Spriggs company insurance policy
- Technical School Certificate and 2 years of related work experience or 5 years of related work experience.
- Thoroughunderstanding of practices involved in the use ofvarious typesof heavy equipment.
- Thoroughunderstanding of maintenance and basic repairs associated with heavy equipment.
- Thoroughunderstanding of safety rules and ability to safelyoperatemachinery.
- Superior skilloperatingassigned equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately.
Education and Experience:
- Highschool diploma or equivalentwith at least five years ofrelevant experience.
- Post-secondary, degree, or traininga plus.
- Workplace safetypractices.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to worklong periodsincluding evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time.
Travel Requirements:
- Ifworkloadin the shop becomes light.ShopMechanics may be asked totemporarilytravel to other locations toassistwith repairs.
