The Role in a Nutshell
Have you ever watched someone try to explain a weird car noise using only sound effects? ("It goes clunk-clunk-squeak when I turn left!") If your first instinct is to smile, translate that sound into automotive reality, and reassure them that everything is going to be okay, then you are the Automotive Service Writer we’ve been looking for.
We are searching for a high-energy, people-loving Service Writer to be the face, voice, and heartbeat of our shop. In this role, you aren’t just writing repair ordersyou are a translator, a problem solver, and a customer hero who bridges the gap between stressed-out drivers and our team of master technicians.
Your Daily Checklist
- Play Car Translator: Listen to customers describe their vehicle woes, decipher what they actually mean, and turn it into clear, accurate work orders that our techs can dive right into.
- Be the Bearer of Solutions: Deliver repair quotes with transparency and empathy. No scary industry jargon or aggressive sales tacticsjust honest advice and friendly guidance.
- Keep the Juggling Act Going: Schedule appointments, track repair timelines, order the right parts, and make sure our bays run like a finely tuned engine.
- Over-Communicate (In a Good Way): Keep customers in the loop so they never have to guess when their car will be ready. High-fives upon vehicle pickup are highly encouraged.
What You Bring to the Garage
- The Gift of Gab: You genuinely like talking to people, you have a solid funny bone, and your phone etiquette is unmatched.
- Car Common Sense: You don't need to know how to rebuild an engine blindfolded, but you know your way around a vehicle and understand basic mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience: 3-5+ in an automotive shop, customer service, or retail sales setting is ideal. If you have ASE certifications or experience with shop management software, you’re already spinning laps ahead of the competition.
- Cool Under Pressure: When the lobby is packed and the phones are ringing, you stay calm, collected, and ready to roll up your sleeves.
- The Legal Stuff: You must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
