Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for a Revenue Cycle Analyst to join a healthcare organization. This role focuses on strengthening payment posting accuracy, resolving unapplied cash issues, and improving the flow of remittance activity across the revenue cycle. The ideal candidate brings strong medical billing knowledge, a solid understanding of claims and payment processes, and the ability to collaborate across teams to reduce exceptions and support operational performance.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee remittance activity for insurance and patient payments in Epic, ensuring payments are posted accurately, balanced appropriately, and addressed within required timeframes.

• Research undistributed cash items by tracing unapplied funds, reviewing account discrepancies, and matching payments to the correct balances or encounters.

• Resolve payments that fail to post automatically by investigating payer-related issues, account inconsistencies, inactive visits, and credit balance situations.

• Work closely with billing, follow-up, front-end, and revenue cycle teams to correct root-cause issues and improve payment routing workflows.

• Evaluate existing payment posting and remittance procedures, then recommend practical process enhancements that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.

• Track queue aging, resolution volume, and productivity patterns, documenting trends and sharing actionable insights with leadership.

• Support ongoing clean-up of exception work queues to minimize backlogs and improve the timely handling of payment-related issues.

• Experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations with a strong grasp of payment posting, billing workflows, and claims activity.
• Working knowledge of medical billing principles, including insurance and patient payment processing.
• Familiarity with Epic remittance and payment posting functions, including exception handling and reconciliation activities.
• Ability to investigate unapplied cash, mismatched accounts, and posting errors with strong attention to detail.
• Experience analyzing workflow performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
• Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across revenue cycle, billing, and operational teams.
• Proficiency in documenting findings, monitoring queue metrics, and presenting process recommendations clearly.
