Position Overview
BE Staffing Solutions is proactively identifying dependable, safety-conscious candidates for a potential Jet Bridge Cleaning & Maintenance Technician assignment supporting airport operations at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).
This position would assist with maintaining the cleanliness, safety, appearance, and operational readiness of passenger boarding bridges, commonly referred to as jet bridges. These enclosed walkways connect airport terminals to aircraft and must be maintained to support safe, efficient passenger boarding and airport operations.
The ideal candidate has experience in commercial cleaning, facilities maintenance, industrial environments, or general mechanical support and is comfortable working in an active airport setting.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Facility Upkeep
- Clean interior passenger boarding bridge areas, including floors, walls, windows, handrails, and frequently touched surfaces.
- Remove debris and maintain clean, orderly work areas.
- Perform detailed cleaning using approved cleaning products and equipment.
- Identify and report spills, damage, obstructions, or other safety hazards.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
Routine Maintenance Support
- Conduct visual inspections for wear, damage, leaks, loose components, and other observable concerns.
- Assist authorized maintenance technicians with basic preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in clean, safe working condition.
- Report mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or structural issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete maintenance checklists, work orders, and activity reports as required.
- Perform only maintenance tasks for which the employee has received appropriate training and authorization.
Safety and Airport Operations
- Follow airport security requirements, restricted-area procedures, and worksite safety policies.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain awareness of aircraft movement, ground support equipment, vehicles, and pedestrian traffic.
- Follow applicable chemical-handling, hazard communication, and equipment safety procedures.
- Coordinate assigned work with supervisors to minimize disruptions to airport operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial services, facilities maintenance, warehouse operations, or industrial work preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required airport security credentials, subject to applicable airport and employer requirements.
- Willingness to complete required training and screening.
Preferred Experience
- Airport or aviation operations.
- Commercial building or industrial maintenance.
- Passenger boarding bridge or ground support equipment familiarity.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and use of hand tools.
- Preventive maintenance inspections and work-order documentation.
- Experience working around heavy equipment or in safety-sensitive environments.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
- Ability to lift and move equipment or supplies within the position's established physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willingness to work in enclosed walkways and potentially noisy or temperature-variable airport environments.
- Ability to follow required PPE and safe-work procedures.
