Key Responsibilities:
Lead and review functional and detailed structural, outfitting, and production drawings, including General Arrangements and midship sections.
Manage engineering activities, technical solutions, design reviews, and identification of technical risks.
Ensure designs comply with Classification Society rules (ABS, DNV), SOLAS, applicable regulations, client specifications, and production requirements.
Implement quality control procedures and support team training and development.
Coordinate with project management and production teams to resolve design conflicts during construction.
Track engineering deliverables, deadlines, technical documentation, 3D models, work instructions, and specifications.
Provide weekly engineering updates, lead client presentations, and support technical proposals and business development.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering field.
5-10+ years of ship design or shipyard engineering experience, including proven leadership experience.
Working knowledge of naval architecture, structures, propulsion and auxiliaries, electrical systems, and mission systems.
Strong technical understanding of ship systems, including structural design, piping, HVAC, and marine electrical systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and ShipConstructor.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems (EDMS).
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years leading complex ship design projects or engineering teams.
Experience designing U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, or other government vessels.
