Unite Contracting is seeking a Structural Fitter to fabricate and assemble steel frames, beams, and industrial equipment structures. Reporting to the fabrication supervisor, this role partners closely with welders to interpret blueprints, prepare components for welding, ensure accurate fit-up, and maintain production quality. The position offers a path to advancement to Lead Structural Fitter.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings for structural assemblies.
- Fabricate and assemble steel frames, beams, and industrial equipment structures.
- Align and position components to meet drawing specifications.
- Prepare assemblies and joints for welding in partnership with welders.
- Operate overhead cranes, rigging equipment, plasma cutters, torches, magnetic drills, grinders, and automated fabrication machinery.
- Handle materials safely throughout fabrication
- Perform self-checks, dimensional verification, and fit-up inspections before welding.
- Complete formal quality documentation and support overall quality control.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel fitting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
