Job Description

Outside Sales Representative – Multifamily Industry

Location: Dallas–Fort Worth, TX

Work Arrangement: Remote / Field-Based (Initial In-Office Training)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Base Salary + Commission with Transition to Commission-Based Earnings

Position Overview

Chandler Maclain is partnering with an established company in the multifamily flooring and property services industry seeking a highly motivated, results-driven Outside Sales Representative to expand its presence throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth market.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter who wants to build a successful sales career, develop lasting relationships, and take ownership of their earning potential.

The ideal candidate is a natural relationship-builder with a strong work ethic, confidence in prospecting, and the discipline to create opportunities from the ground up. While experience within the multifamily housing industry is highly desirable, proven sales ability, initiative, and a willingness to learn are more important than specific industry experience.

This is a newly created position driven by continued growth and the need to expand the existing sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth multifamily housing market.
  • Build and maintain relationships with apartment communities, property management companies, regional managers, and other industry decision-makers.
  • Proactively prospect through cold calling, networking, in-person visits, referrals, and industry events.
  • Establish a book of business from the ground up while also pursuing warm leads and opportunities within existing company accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships with properties where the company already has agreements in place.
  • Conduct client meetings, present solutions, prepare proposals, and close new business.
  • Consistently maintain a high level of prospecting activity and follow-up.
  • Manage sales opportunities, customer information, and pipeline activity using company technology and sales tools.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company's products, services, and competitive advantages.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to identify growth opportunities and increase market penetration.
  • Independently manage daily schedules, client relationships, and sales activities.

Qualifications

  • Previous sales, business development, or account management experience preferred, but motivated entry-level candidates and recent college graduates will be considered.
  • Experience selling to the multifamily housing industry is highly desirable.
  • Existing relationships with apartment communities, property managers, or regional multifamily decision-makers are a plus.
  • Demonstrated confidence in cold calling, prospecting, and initiating new business relationships.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working independently.
  • Competitive mindset with a genuine interest in performance-based compensation.
  • Ability to handle rejection, overcome objections, and remain persistent in a challenging sales environment.
  • Comfortable using basic technology, CRM systems, and sales-related software.
  • Experience with MeasureSquare is a significant plus.
  • Must reside in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and be willing to travel locally for client meetings and business development activities.

Compensation & Earning Potential

The company offers a unique compensation structure designed to support new sales representatives as they establish their business while providing the opportunity to increase commission-based earnings over time.

  • Initial base salary provides financial stability during the business development and ramp-up period.
  • Compensation gradually transitions from a higher base salary to increased commission-based earnings according to an established schedule.
  • Sales representatives may elect to transition to a commission-only structure earlier, based on their preference and performance.
  • Once an employee voluntarily moves to commission-only compensation, the transition is permanent.
  • Compensation details and the transition schedule will be discussed during the interview process.

This structure is designed for individuals who are motivated by the opportunity to directly influence their income through sales performance.

Work Environment & Territory

  • Remote / Field-Based: Initial onboarding includes in-office training, shadowing, and learning the business. Following training, the representative will work independently in the field.
  • Flexible Territory: No assigned or restricted territories within DFW. Representatives have the flexibility to pursue opportunities in the markets where they can build the strongest relationships.
  • Business Development Focus: This is a true new-business development position. Candidates should be comfortable building a book of business rather than inheriting an established portfolio.
  • Sales Support: Some warm leads and existing company relationships will be available to support prospecting efforts.
  • Leadership: Reports directly to the Vice President of Sales.

What Success Looks Like

Success in the first 90 days will be measured primarily by business development activity and relationship-building efforts, including:

  • Consistent prospecting and outbound sales activity.
  • Building visibility and establishing a presence in the DFW multifamily market.
  • Scheduling and conducting meetings with prospective customers.
  • Developing relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Creating a healthy pipeline of qualified sales opportunities.
  • Demonstrating discipline, initiative, and ownership of the sales process.

Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is hungry to succeed, comfortable hearing "no," and willing to put in the work necessary to build a long-term sales career.

This individual should be confident picking up the phone, walking into a prospective customer's office, introducing themselves, and turning conversations into business opportunities.

If you're a motivated sales professional who enjoys the challenge of building a territory, developing your own book of business, and having a direct impact on your earning potential, we'd welcome the opportunity to connect.
