Senior CMM Programming Engineer

Master Research & Manufacturing, Inc. (MRM) is seeking a highly experienced Senior CMM Programming Engineer with a strong background in precision aerospace manufacturing, dimensional inspection, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programming. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with PC-DMIS, advanced knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to independently interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models, technical data packages, and customer specifications.

This position requires a true engineering professional who can develop and optimize CMM inspection programs, analyze complex part geometries, troubleshoot measurement challenges, and ensure that manufactured components conform to engineering requirements. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, exercising sound technical judgment, and serving as a technical resource for Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering personnel.

Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing is strongly preferred.

CMM Programming & Dimensional Inspection

• Develop, write, validate, troubleshoot, and optimize CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS.
• Independently program CMMs to inspect complex precision-machined aerospace components.
• Establish appropriate measurement strategies, probe configurations, alignments, datums, coordinate systems, and inspection sequences.
• Determine the appropriate measurement methods for complex geometric features and tight-tolerance components.
• Perform first article, in-process, and final dimensional inspections as required.
• Analyze measurement results and troubleshoot programming, alignment, probing, and measurement discrepancies.
• Optimize inspection programs for accuracy, repeatability, efficiency, and reliability.

Engineering Drawing & GD&T Interpretation

• Independently interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, technical data packages, and customer specifications.
• Apply advanced knowledge of GD&T, including datum reference frames, true position, profile, perpendicularity, parallelism, concentricity/runout, and other geometric controls as applicable.
• Translate drawing requirements and GD&T callouts into appropriate CMM measurement routines.
• Understand the relationship between design intent, datum structure, part geometry, and inspection methodology.
• Identify ambiguous, conflicting, or impractical inspection requirements and communicate technical concerns appropriately.
