Special Education Teacher in Spring Valley, CA

Step into an impactful role dedicated to supporting middle school students with mild to moderate special needs in La Mesa, CA. As an experienced Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in nurturing academic and personal growth within a collaborative environment, supporting co-taught humanities and science classes, and leading a specialized ELA course.

Your day will be structured with four teaching periods, one dedicated preparation period, and an additional hour for consulting and testing, focusing on a caseload of approximately 18 mostly 6th-grade students. If you excel in fostering inclusion, adapting curriculum, and partnering with general education teachers, this contract position is an excellent fit.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current and active California Mild/Moderate Teaching Credential (please include a screenshot from CTC in your application)
• Experience with middle school students and IEP processes
• Ability to support co-teaching models and modify curriculum as needed
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with teachers, parents, and support staff

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction across humanities and science within a co-taught setting
• Lead a targeted Special Education ELA class
• Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide tailored interventions during consulting and testing period
• Maintain accurate records and progress monitoring
• Support inclusive practices and a positive classroom climate

This position begins as soon as possible and continues through June 15, 2027.
