Area Chief Engineer

About the Role
This full-time, multi-property position requires regular travel between three hotels. Candidates basedin Kernersville, Mooresville, or Greensboro, NCare preferred; Charlotte-area candidates will also be considered. This is an active, hands-on role that combines direct repairs and inspections with team leadership and facility planning.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and support engineering and maintenance teams across three hotel properties.
- Personally troubleshoot and perform repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, carpentry, and building systems.
- Inspect properties regularly, prioritize work orders, and maintain safe, attractive, guest-ready facilities.
- Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs for major equipment and building systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building, fire, health, OSHA, and life-safety requirements.
- Coordinate vendors, review estimates and completed work, and support engineering budgets and capital projects.
- Partner with General Managers and hotel teams to resolve maintenance concerns and minimize disruptions to guests.
- Maintain maintenance records, communicate facility needs, and respond to urgent issues as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- 4–5+ years of hands-on hotel engineering, facilities maintenance, or related trade experience, including supervisory experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, boilers, and general building repairs.
- Proven ability to perform repairs personally while leading teams across multiple locations.
- Excellent organization, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel between properties approximately 25–50% of the work week.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to maintenance emergencies, including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
- Hotel brand experience, relevant trade certifications, CPO certification, and maintenance software experience preferred.
