Medical Assistant

About the Role: Seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This position requires experience in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting clinical examinations, performing laboratory and clinical procedures, and managing essential front-office administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in outpatient settings, comfort performing independent phlebotomy, and strong proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.

Type: Full Time

Location: On-site in Winchester, VA 22602

Shift: MWF: 10:00am - 5:00pm; Tu/Thurs: 8:00am - 3:00pm

Pay: $18-23/hr

Qualifications:

• Medical Assistant experience (family practice, internal medicine, urgent care, walk-in clinic, or related outpatient setting)

• Comfort and proficiency performing independent blood draws

• BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or ProCPR)

• Medical Assistant certification (preferred)

• Proficiency in EPIC EMR software (preferred)

• Strong commitment to preventative health care programs and a collaborative, team-based approach to care delivery
  
  Key Responsibilities:

• Measures and records vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, etc.)

• Ensures accurate and timely documentation into the EMR; i.e.- patient interviews and histories, vital signs, treatments, test results

• Assists medical staff with patient examinations

• Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilizes instruments necessary for registration and clinical procedures

• Maintains confidentiality of all patient and organization information and follows federal and state regulations and organization policies regarding protection of patient information

• Participates in development activities and maintains affiliations with medical assistant associations, as applicable

• Commitment to concepts of preventative health care programs and team-based approach to health care delivery

• Front office duties including but not limited to reception, patient check-in/check-out, payment collection, and electronic scheduling

• May perform routine screening tests

• Draws patient blood samples as directed and prepares samples for ordered laboratory analysis, and collection of other ordered lab specimens

• Prepares and administers ordered injectable medications and immunizations

• Changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures, and performs other first aid procedures

• Assists patients with the scheduling of internal/external referrals
