Job Description

Job Description

Position: Senior/Principal Analog Engineer (level based on experience)

Location: Rosenberg, TX. Primarily in the office, with occasional customer and vendor visits and occasional travel to our parent company, Automation Displays, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Martin Company, an Automation Displays company, designs regulated industrial and commercial products and gets them through certification, on time and on budget. We serve industrial and commercial product companies across North America with electrical, mechanical, software and industrial engineering, rapid prototyping and certification services.

Qualifications

  • This is a hands-on design role. The engineer personally does circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, bench bring-up, debug and characterization, rather than directing others to do it.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or closely related engineering degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of electrical engineering experience with a primary focus on analog design.
  • Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or an active PE license in another U.S. state with Texas licensure obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Expert, current Altium Designer user, capable of producing high-quality schematics, multilayer PCB layouts and complete manufacturing outputs (fabrication and assembly drawings, Gerber/ODB++, BOMs, pick-and-place).
  • Strong EMC/EMI knowledge as applied to PCB design, including grounding, stackup, partitioning and layout for emissions and immunity.
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation using Altium, LTspice or another mainstream simulation tool.
  • Broad, hands-on analog design experience across a wide range of applications, from precision low-noise signal chains to power electronics, including:
  • Precision signal conditioning: high-dynamic-range, high-CMRR sensor inputs (e.g., 120 dB+ dynamic range, 100 dB+ CMRR), active and passive filters, and low-distortion audio-grade circuits
  • Power conversion and drive: low- and high-voltage power supplies (e.g., 400 V+), motor drivers, and low- to high-power output stages
  • Battery-powered and low-power design
  • Design at both the discrete-component and integrated-circuit level
  • Experience with microcontroller-based hardware design, including MCU selection, pin and peripheral allocation (floor-planning), clock, reset, power and programming/debug interfaces, and the analog-to-digital interface (ADCs, DACs, references, PWM).
  • Strong understanding of component-level effects on circuit performance, such as capacitor dielectric behavior, parasitics, tolerances and noise.
  • Sound component selection skills, balancing performance, cost, availability and lifecycle/obsolescence.
  • Excellent communication skills with engineering teams, customers and vendors.

A plus:

  • Motor control methods such as classic PWM speed control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), PID and Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC)
  • RF design experience
  • Product certification experience (e.g., FCC, CE, UL/IEC)
  • Embedded firmware experience. Firmware is not a responsibility of this role, but familiarity helps when partnering with firmware engineers.
