A ProCustom Group a Design Engineer is responsible for the full product-development cycle, from design concept, prototyping, CAD modeling, production, and preservation throughout the product life-cycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform design, development, and validation of mechanical parts and systems. May also engage in cable design and electrical integration.
- Participate in the development of requirements and specifications for systems and structure
- Work directly with Operations to improve processes, create/update work instructions, assembly drawings and travelers/routers
- Proactively engage in continuous improvement activities for design, manufacturing, and production
- Define and maintain product bill of materials (BOM)
- Hands-on evaluation of mechanical parts, using a caliper, basic hand tools, etc
- Maintain detailed change records via engineering change orders (ECOs)
- Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in Solidworks
- May perform other related responsibilities as required by the company
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design in a production environment or equivalent
- Experienced with Solidworks
- Knowledge of machinable materials, including Aluminum, Steel, Delrin, etc
- Must be detail oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication with an emphasis on interpersonal and organizational skills
- Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your own work
- Proficient with GD&T and DFM, preferred
- Knowledge of commercial and military electrical connectors, preferred
- Knowledge and experience with electrical and electronic systems, preferred
