Junior Network Technician

Entry Level | Data Center Infrastructure | Fiber & Network Cabling

We are seeking a motivated Junior Data Center / Network Technician to support deployment and maintenance activities within a large-scale data center environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in data center operations, networking, fiber optics, or IT infrastructure.

The technician will work alongside experienced team members installing servers and network equipment, running and testing fiber/copper cabling, troubleshooting basic connectivity issues, and supporting rack deployment projects. Previous data center experience is helpful but not required.

• Assist with rack-and-stack installation of servers, switches, and network equipment.
• Install, route, dress, label, and organize fiber-optic and Cat6 cabling.
• Install and replace SFP/QSFP transceivers and network cabling.
• Assist with fiber patching between racks, cabinets, and network equipment.
• Perform basic fiber and network connectivity testing.
• Support server and network equipment deployment.
• Follow cable management, labeling, and documentation standards.
• Assist technicians with basic hardware and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Replace cables, optics, and other components as directed.
• Perform visual inspections of racks, cabling, and equipment.
• Update tickets and document completed work.
• Follow data center safety, ESD, and operational procedures.
• Work closely with senior technicians, network engineers, and deployment teams.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

• 02 years of IT, networking, low-voltage, telecom, electrical, or data center experience.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware and networking.
• Interest in learning fiber optics, servers, switches, and data center infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Cat5e/Cat6 or fiber cabling is a plus.
• Experience with rack-and-stack or structured cabling is a plus, but not required.
• Comfortable using basic hand tools.
• Able to follow technical procedures and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
