Monday-Friday 8-430
Dual-certified medical imaging professional who performs both X-ray mammography and high-resolution breast ultrasound examinations to detect and diagnose breast diseases.
Key Responsibilities
" Perform Imaging: Conduct routine screening and diagnostic mammograms (including 3D tomosynthesis) and targeted breast and axillary ultrasound scans.
" Assist Interventions: Help physicians and radiologists with invasive procedures like core needle biopsies, cyst aspirations, and pre-surgical wire localizations.
" Correlate Findings: Match ultrasound and mammographic images to locate and differentiate normal tissue from cysts, tumors, or suspicious masses.
" Patient Care: Prepare exam rooms, explain procedures, ease anxious patients, and maintain strict privacy and safety guidelines.
" Administrative Duties: Handle scheduling, manage Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) records, and track equipment quality control.
Qualifications & Requirements
" Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program and an AMA-approved Ultrasound school.
" Certifications:
" American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in Radiography and Mammography [ARRT(M)].
" Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), often requiring a Breast (BR) specialty credential.
" Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
" State Licensure: State-specific radiologic/sonography credentials (SCRQSA in South Carolina).
