Responsibilities
- Review resident care plans to determine medical necessity and appropriateness of ongoing services, admissions, and levels of care within utilization management standards
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nursing staff, social workers, and case managers, to coordinate care and optimize transitions
- Perform concurrent utilization reviews, document findings in the electronic health record, and communicate recommendations to care teams and payers
- Ensure documentation supports care decisions, payer requirements, and regulatory guidelines; assist with discharge planning and appropriate level of care
- Provide education and guidance to staff on utilization criteria, care pathways, and documentation within the LTC setting
- Participate in ongoing performance improvement activities related to utilization management and patient safety
Requirements
- Active RN license in Maine
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
- Experience or interest in utilization management or case management preferred
- Proficiency with electronic health records and strong documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a long-term care setting and support interdisciplinary collaboration
- Willingness to undergo credentialing and background checks as part of the assignment process
