ABOUT FURUNO USA

Since 1948, Furuno has been a global leader in marine electronics technology. From pioneering the world's first commercially viable fish finder to creating state-of-the-art navigation systems, radar, sonar, and communication tools, Furuno products have earned an unparalleled reputation for reliability and outstanding performance among commercial mariners and recreational boaters alike.

At Furuno USA, we believe that every team member makes a direct, meaningful impact on our success. We foster a collaborative, supportive work environment where individual initiative is rewarded and technical excellence is celebrated.

YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a customer-focused, technically minded Leisure Marine Support Technician to join our dedicated Service Department. In this non-supervisory role, you will act as a primary technical expert and trusted advisor for our nationwide dealer network and passionate boaters utilizing Furuno's recreational marine equipment. You will diagnose complex technical challenges, provide installation and interfacing solutions, and maintain direct lines of communication across telephone, email, and web channels.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Support & Customer Engagement: Provide high-quality troubleshooting, installation guidance, and replacement part guidance to dealers and boat owners via phone, email, and web forms.

Product Compatibility & Bench Testing: Test and evaluate new product features, interface Furuno

equipment with third-party devices to confirm interoperability, and provide structured feedback to our Product Development team.

Knowledge Base & Documentation: Continuously research technical issues, stay up to date on new release firmware/hardware, and author technical articles and FAQs for public release on our website.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with Customer Service to identify specialized components and communicate with external equipment manufacturers to resolve systemic issues.

Industry Representation: Attend specialized technical training seminars and occasionally staff key national boat shows to demonstrate equipment and assist customers in person.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Higher education or vocational/technical training specializing in Electronics preferred. In lieu of formal electronics education, 2+ years of hands-on experience with Furuno products or marine electronics is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for electronic equipment and customer support.
  • Customer service or phone etiquette training is a plus.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency in desktop operating systems, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet research tools.
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes) and standard hand tools.
  • Ability to read technical wiring diagrams and system schematics.

What Success Looks Like: A high degree of initiative, sound independent judgment, and clear verbal/written communication skills. Because each day brings a new set of complex customer challenges, success requires a methodical problem-solving mindset and a positive, customer-first attitude.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS

Daily Operations: This position operates primarily from our corporate headquarters requiring team members to be at their station and ready to handle dealer and user inquiries by 8:00 AM.

Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary role involving extensive phone and computer operation. Continual use of hands in repetitive motions, sitting, and talking. Occasional handling, lifting, pushing, or pulling of product units weighing up to 50 lbs.

Minimal travel required for trade shows or off-site training.
