(Must be a U.S. Citizen)
We are seeking a SolidWorks Designer to support mechanical design and development for a reactor project. This role requires strong SolidWorks proficiency, experience designing large assemblies and machinery, and a practical understanding of manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will develop detailed, production-ready designs that incorporate design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and ASME Y14.5 standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed SolidWorks 3D models for mechanical components, machinery, and large assemblies supporting the reactor project.
- Create and revise 2D engineering drawings, including component details and assembly documentation.
- Apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards to communicate design intent and manufacturing requirements.
- Incorporate DFM/DFA principles to simplify fabrication, improve assembly efficiency, and support cost-effective production.
- Design mechanical components and assemblies with consideration for fit, function, clearances, accessibility, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and support fabrication and assembly.
- Review designs for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements.
- Update models and drawings to incorporate engineering changes and manufacturing feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including part modeling, assembly modeling, and engineering drawing creation.
- Experience designing and managing large, complex mechanical assemblies.
- Background in machine design within a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 standards and the application of GD&T.
- Demonstrated understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
- Ability to translate design requirements into accurate, manufacturable components and assemblies.
- Strong attention to detail, mechanical problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams.
