Ability to create and interpret 2D engineering drawings
Working knowledge of GD&T
Strong understanding of design for manufacturability
Ability to independently analyze technical problems and work collaboratively with engineering teams and suppliers
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Previous automotive chassis design experience
CATIA V6 surface-modeling experience
Experience with suspension/steering components, subframes, engine mounts, wheels, brakes, fuel/exhaust systems, or similar chassis components
Experience designing complex aluminum die-cast or stamped/welded structures
Experience creating or interpreting basic CAE models/results
Notes: Ideal Skills Strong CATIA V6 experience is preferred. Proficiency in: Solid modeling Surface modeling/surfacing GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) Ability to interpret basic CAE results using CATIA V6 tools. Experience Preferences Strong preference for candidates with Chassis Design experience. Candidates with exceptional CAD capabilities may still be considered even if they lack direct chassis experience. CATIA V5 candidates can be considered if they are strong designers, though V6 experience is preferred given Honda's migration to V6. Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred. Equivalent experience can offset the lack of a degree if the candidate otherwise demonstrates the required capabilities. Work Environment Five days onsite is required for both teams. Travel is minimal, particularly during the first year. Supplier visits may occur later for proven performers but are not a regular expectation. The hiring team is willing to consider: CATIA V5 candidates with strong overall design skills. Candidates without degrees if experience is sufficient. Candidates with various work authorizations, including visa holders, due to the long-term nature of the assignment.
