Candidate Source is working with a well-established, family-owned building materials distributor in Salem, VA that is looking for a hands-on Branch / Warehouse Manager to run daily operations at their local distribution branch. You’ll be the go-to leader for a small team of about five: keeping orders and shipments on track, supporting contractor and commercial customers, and jumping in on the warehouse floor when needed. This is a direct hire opportunity with a growing company where your work is seen and valued, not lost in a corporate org chart.

Shift / Hours

  • Day shift, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Occasional additional hours based on shipping demands

  • Major holidays observed

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily incoming and outgoing shipments, including LTL, dedicated loads, and branch-to-branch transfers

  • Enter customer sales orders and prepare quotes (full training provided on company systems)

  • Lead, train, and support warehouse staff and drivers

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and keep the warehouse safe and organized

  • Build strong relationships with contractors, commercial customers, the sales team, and other branches

  • Resolve shipping, delivery, and logistics issues as they come up

  • Pitch in hands-on with loading and unloading trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks

Job Requirements

  • Experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, dispatch, or operations leadership

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Calm and steady under pressure; able to juggle competing priorities and frequent interruptions

  • Friendly, outgoing personality with strong customer service and communication skills

  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word) and willingness to learn new software

  • Able to perform hands-on warehouse work, including lifting up to 50 lbs

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Nice to Have

  • Background in construction supply, building materials, commercial HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or industrial distribution

  • Familiarity with commercial or industrial insulation products
