Job Description:
Join an established organization seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead multiple software engineering teams responsible for developing and supporting business-critical enterprise applications. This leadership position will oversee complex cloud-based solutions while ensuring successful delivery, strong engineering practices, and long-term platform reliability.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical depth, strategic leadership, and proven experience managing large-scale engineering organizations. You'll partner with business and technology leaders to establish priorities, guide architectural decisions, develop engineering talent, and drive continuous improvement across multiple Agile teams.
This role requires someone who can balance immediate delivery objectives with long-term technology strategy while fostering a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead software engineering operations and delivery across 12–15 Agile development teams.
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and delivery expectations while empowering teams to operate effectively.
  • Oversee multiple technology initiatives, ensuring predictable delivery, quality, risk management, and alignment with business priorities.
  • Provide technical and architectural leadership for cloud-based enterprise applications.
  • Guide solution design, technical decision-making, security standards, and long-term platform modernization.
  • Manage technical debt and promote scalable, maintainable software architecture.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers, technical leads, and senior developers while building leadership succession plans.
  • Partner with business and product leadership to translate strategic objectives into actionable technology roadmaps.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, delivery practices, and team performance.
  • Promote Agile, Scrum, Kanban, DevOps, and Lean methodologies to improve delivery efficiency and software quality.
  • Establish engineering governance, accountability, and best practices across development teams.
  • Collaborate across departments to resolve challenges, manage competing priorities, and deliver enterprise technology solutions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 15+ years of progressive software development experience, including 10+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Proven experience leading multiple software engineering teams, managers, and complex enterprise initiatives.
  • Strong technical background in cloud-based enterprise applications, architecture, and software delivery.
  • Experience providing architectural and technical leadership within a regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated success scaling engineering teams, applications, or platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, DevOps, software delivery governance, and risk management.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders, build consensus, and communicate effectively with executive leadership.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET MVC, TypeScript, and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud modernization, and AI-assisted development technologies.
  • Commercial Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.
  • Experience leading engineering organizations supporting complex, customer-facing enterprise platforms.

The base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $210,000, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
