An established nonprofit organization is seeking a compassionate, organized Registered Nurse to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential and community programs.

This opportunity is especially well suited to nurses with experience in acute care, long-term care, or disability services who want to focus more on care coordination, clinical oversight, education, and advocacy.

The opportunity

You’ll oversee the healthcare needs ofvarious patients throughout our network, working closely with house supervisors, support staff, families, and medical providers to help each person achieve better health and quality of life.

The role involves less direct bedside care than a traditional hospital nursing position, with greater emphasis on coordinating support, guiding staff, monitoring healthcare needs, and ensuring care plans are followed.

What you’ll do

• Assess healthcare needs and develop individualized health goals.
• Coordinate medical appointments, clinics, physician orders, and follow-up care.
• Oversee medication administration practices, storage, and related documentation.
• Educate and coach support staff on individuals’ healthcare needs.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records, progress notes, and medical and program books.
• Complete weekly audits and documentation reviews.
• Contribute to Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Advocate for individuals’ health, dignity, independence, and personal choices.
• Participate in the nursing on-call and clinic rotation.
  

What you’ll bring

• A current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
• At least two years of nursing experience in acute care, long-term care, or supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills.
• Confidence working independently and collaborating with clinical and nonclinical colleagues.
• An interest in education, coaching, and community-based nursing.
• Your own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean three-year driving record.
• Ability to perform the essential duties, including lifting and assisting with transfers, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  

Previous developmental disability services experience is welcomed, but nurses with transferable acute care or long-term care experience are encouraged to apply.
