About the Role: The Junior Project Architect develops design concepts and produces construction document sets under the direction of the project lead. This is a hands-on role that pairs production craft with design judgment. You take a program or a concept sketch and develop it into a clean, coordinated, code-compliant set. The design direction is set by the project lead, and you are expected to think with it: to fill in the gaps where it is not fully spelled out, and to elevate the work rather than only draft what you are handed.
Responsibilities:- Develop concepts and programs into coordinated plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules, to the firm's standards and level of finish.
- Produce and maintain construction document sets in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Take a concept sketch or a stated program and develop it into a buildable set, exercising judgment where the direction is not fully spelled out.
- Incorporate redlines and markups accurately and on tight turnarounds.
- Apply Florida building codes and accessibility requirements (FBC, FFPC, ADA) and jurisdictional standards.
- Coordinate drawings with consultants (structural, MEP, civil) and help prepare permit and AHJ submittals.
- Maintain model and file integrity, layer and sheet standards, and organized project documentation.
- Support the design and construction teams through CD development and, as needed, construction administration (RFIs and submittals).
- Keep multiple drawing tasks moving on schedule across concurrent projects.
Requirements:- Roughly three to five or more years of hands-on production on construction document sets.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD as a production tool, on the development of construction documents, not just familiarity.
- Experience producing CD sets under an architect.
- Experience across our building types: commercial, condominium or multifamily, retail, hotel, and high-end residential.
- Working knowledge of FBC, FFPC, and ADA, applied under direction.
- Experience coordinating with consultants and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
- Degree in architecture or equivalent hands-on production experience.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and reliable output under deadline.
- Authorized to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications- Production-level Revit, in addition to AutoCAD.
- 3D modeling with SketchUp or Rhino.
- Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Rendering with Lumion, V-Ray, or similar.
- Familiarity with local entitlement processes and construction administration.
Attributes- An independent thinker with strong deductive reasoning. You fill in the blanks and use common sense rather than needing every step spelled out.
- Trained to think about how a space is lived in and moved through, not only how to draw a line. You bring architectural judgment to production work.
- Able to take a crude sketch or a program and develop it into something buildable, and to recognize and raise a real problem before it becomes one.
- Strong design sensibility and eye for detail, able to work within and elevate a defined design language.
- Reliable and precise under deadline, with the maturity to work professionally with clients and with direction you do not always agree with.
Location and Schedule This is a full-time, hybrid role, local to South Florida. Expect more time in the office early on while you learn our standards and design language, settling into a partly-in-office, partly-remote rhythm anchored to collaboration and review days. No relocation costs are offered.
